Heidelberg, Germany

Hi everyone,

Exactly one year ago one of my best friends and I went on a day-trip to Heidelberg. For us that's about a one and a half hour drive. Heidelberg is probably best known for its castle and its old-town.

I've now been to Heidelberg on multiple occasions. One of the must-dos in the city is definitely to go up the hill to the castle. You can walk around the outside or buy a ticket to actually go inside the castle. Either way you get an amazing view of the city from up there. You can also choose between walking up the stairs or buying a ticket to take the bus up the hill. Walking takes about fifteen minutes but the view and the castle itself is definitely worth the effort. Before or after one goes uphill to the castle, you should definitely explore the old-town. There is a bunch of shops in the old, beautiful houses or you can grab a bite to eat.

When we were in the city this time last year, we were lucky enough to see a field of cherry blossoms in the middle of the city.

When you're in that part of Germany, Heidelberg is always worth a visit. The city is incredibly beautiful and there is so much history to explore.

Prague, Czech Republic

Hi everyone,

long time no see. A lot has happened since I last posted on this blog. Since catching you up on my entire life would be too much, for now I just want to tell you about a trip that I took recently.
Ever since we returned from London, two friends and I have met up every summer in a different city. We've been back to London and visited each other in everyones' hometowns: Berlin, Vienna and Frankfurt. So this year, we decided to explore a new city together: Prague.

We stayed for roughly four days and since Prague isn't too big, we got to explore quite a lot of the city. The first thing to stick out is the amount of old beautiful houses. Wherever you go in this city you're always surrounded by old houses.

On our first day we visited the castle and walked through the neighborhood. We even got to experience a small and cozy café in walking distance to the castle. At the end of the day we crossed over the famous Charles Bridge.

We then used the next day to explore the Old Town and Josefov - the Jewish Quarter. The Old Town and the Jewish Quarter are all in walking distance from each other so we spent most of our day walking through Prague.

The next two days were used to explore Prague on foot some more.

Prague is most definitely one of the most beautiful cities I have visited so far. I immediately fell in love with the beautiful old houses all over the city and was very impressed by the huge castle.

Crete | Summer 2016

Hi everyone,

it is now my last Sunday before I go back to uni, which means summer is officially over. Quite literally unfortunately: the sun is nowhere to be seen, it's starting to get cold and we've already had to turn the heat on.

But let's talk about the more fun things: all the adventures I got to experience over the summer.

It all started with my best friend and I flying to Crete, Greece and relaxing at the beach for a week to get rid of all the exam stress we had to endure. The weather was perfect, we only had to walk a minute to get to the beach and we finally got to spend some quality time together again. Even though we spent most of the time sun-bathing, we also took one trip around the island. It was a fun day and the pretty views were absolutely worth waking up early. We first stopped at a sweet water lake, walked around the city Chania and at last stopped at one of the ten most beautiful beaches in the entire world. It was absolutely breath taking. The water was clear and in some parts the sand would shimmer in pink. The entire vacation was relaxing, beautiful and worth repeating next year. :)

Es ist nun der letzte Sonntag bevor nächste Woche meine Uni wieder startet. Nun muss wohl auch ich endlich akzeptieren, dass der Sommer vorbei ist. Doch anstelle daran zu denken, dass ich diesen Blogpost in eine Decke gemummelt und mit Heizung schreiben muss, möchte ich euch lieber von meinen Reisen diesen Sommer erzählen. 

Zuerst in ich direkt nach der Klausurenpahse mit einer Freuedin  nach Kreta geflogen. Das Wetter war absolut perfekt und wir hatten die ganze Woche eigentlich nur Sonne und konnten diese in vollen Zügen am Strand genießen. Unser Hotel war nur eine Laufminute vom Strand entfernt und somit haben wir auch fast jeden Tag dort verbracht. Einen Tag haben wir allerdings auch einen Ausflug um die Insel gemacht und dabei einen Süßwassersee, die Stadt Chania und einen der zehn schönsten Strände der Welt gesehen. Dieser war mit seinem klaren türkisfarbenen Wasser und dem leicht rosa schimmernden Sand wirklich atemberaubend. Der Urlaub war super entspannend und wird nächsten Sommer hoffentlich wiederholt. :)

Next up was a trip to Berlin with my family. But I'll talk about that in another post.

It's been a while...

I know, I know... It's been literally months since I've updated this blog. I was quite the busy bee and even though I still am, I really wanna write posts more frequently. 

A lot has happened since my last post. Not only did I have an amazing vacation in America ( I am definitely going to write a post about this quite soon!) but I have started uni. 

Before actually starting uni I wasn't too exited about things: the uni I so terribly wanted to attend did not accept my application and I had loads of doubts about the one I am attending now. But, as so many things in life, things did turn out alright. It only takes 15 minuets by car to get to uni - which gives me extra time in the morning to sleep in and enough time to still go to the gym and make some money! :)

My class mates are absolutely fabulous and I wouldn't have asked for any others. 

It's still early on in the semester (in Germany we start uni in October ) and homework and studying is still manageable. Which gave me enough time last weekend to finally welcome one of my best London friends to Frankfurt. Katharine came to visit! I picked her up from the train station Friday evening and Saturday was spent at the Frankfurt book fair. We had loads of fun together and it is always lovely to reunite with old friends. We still laugh about the fact that we live less than an hour away from each other but met in London. The world is such a small place!

Halli hallo meine Lieben, 

leider ist es schon eine Ewigkeit her, dass ich das letzte Mal auf diesem Blog gepostet habe. Aber keine Sorge, mich gibt es noch; ich war in letzte Zeit nur ein wenig im Stress. 

Zuerst hatte ich das Privileg den kompletten August bei meiner ehemaligen Gastfamilie in Amerika verbringen zu dürfen. Es war eine wundervolle Zeit und ich werde demnächst auch noch einen ausführlicheren Post darüber schreiben. 

Aber jetzt erst mal zu den Dingen, die mich danach in Anspruch genommen haben. Ich habe mein Studium begonnen. Zu Anfang war ich nicht sonderlich begeistert von der Idee, da die Uni, auf die ich eigentlich wollte, mir leider eine Absage geschickt hatte. Aber wie do vieles im Leben, wendet sich doch eigentlich immer alles ins Gute. Ich brauche nur 15 Minuten zur Uni und mein doch sehr guter Stundenplan ermöglicht es mir neben der Uni noch zu arbeiten und regelmäßig ins Training zu gehen. Und auch meine Mitkomilitonen sind alle super nett und ich muss zugeben, dass das Studium wirklich Spaß macht. 

Außerdem ist jetzt am Anfang des Semesters die Arbeit noch relativ gering, weswegen ich letztes Wochenende genügend Zeit hatte, und eine gute Freundin endlich wieder zu sehen. Katharina hatte sich auf den Weg von Mannheim nach Frankfurt gemacht und Freitag Abend und Samstag mit mir verbracht. Samstag waren wir auf der Frankfurter Buchmesse. Es hat super viel Spaß gemacht und es tat wirklich gut, sie endlich mal wieder zu sehen. 

Jetzt wünsche ich euch erst einmal einen guten Start in die Woche!

Summer in Savannah

Since I've been back from London, not really much has happened in my life that is exiting enough to write an actual blogpost about. I've been working, meeting up with friends, going to the gym loads and just generally enjoying myself. 

I've been planning my university start next year and I am genuinely exited to start that new chapter of my life in a couple of months. 

But until then, there's some adventures waiting for me in the summer. Last week, my brother and I finally managed to book our plane tickets to America. We'll both be spending some time with my host-family in Savannah over the summer. 

I haven't seen them since I flew back to Germany almost three years ago. When I left, I was always a hundred percent certain that I would visit them as soon as I graduated high school. But unfortunately I did not have enough time to fly to America last summer and I was a bit bummed out about that. But luckily I have a lot more time on my hands this year and I finally get to see them again. Both, my brother and I, are massively exited to see them again and I can't wait to show him around a place that I got to call home for ten months. 

Seitdem ich aus London wieder zurück bin, ist nicht betsonderlich viel passiert, über das ich euch hier berichten könnte. Ich arbeite, trainiere, treffe mich mit Freunden und genieße einfach nur meine Zeit. 

Außerdem kümmere ich mich im Moment um die Bewerbungen für die Unis und ich freue mich mittlerweile schon richtig mit meinem Studium anzufangen. 

Allerdings gibt es vorher noch ein Event, auf das ich mich diesen Sommer besonders freue. Mein Bruder und ich haben letzte Woche endlich unsere Flugtickets gebucht: für uns beide geht es diesen August zu meiner Gastfamilie nach Amerika! 

Mittlerweile ist es gut drei Jahre her, dass ich sie das letzte Mal sehen durfte. Von Anfang an war für mich klar, dass ich sobald ich mit der Schule fertig bin, sie wieder besuchen werde. Allerdings bin ich letztes Jahr dann schon früher nach London geflogen, weswegen wir das Ganze verschieben musste. Umso aufgeregter bin ich jetzt natürlich, dass es dieses Jahr endlich klappt! 

Außerdem freue ich mich schon riesig meinem Bruder eine Stadt und ein Leben zeigen zu können, welche ich für zehn Monate mein zu Hause nennen durfte. Wir werden auf jeden Fall viel Zeit am Strand verbringen und ich hoffe natürlich, dass es ihm genauso gut gefallen wird, wie es mir tut.

Being back in London

As I already mentioned in my last post, I did not only spend Saturday night in London but the entire weekend. I flew out early morning on Friday and stayed until Sunday evening.

I landed at Heathrow at around 8AM London time and went straight to Kingston to meet up with my friends who still live there. We started out as two and when the others finished their college classes, and duties at home we ended up being around six girls in Pret-a-manger, enjoying tea and coffee and gossiping about everything that has happened during the past couple days. It literally felt like I'd never left and it was just so much fun. Luckily, we had great weather on both Friday and Saturday which led to us spending a lot of time outside as well.

During the afternoon, Julia and I visited my former host family. We talked with Alexa for like an hour and when Raphael had to get ready for his soccer practice, we kept on playing cards with Luca and entertained him for a while. 

Friday night we spent at Julia's since she had to babysit. The kids were in bed at around 8PM and we basically had the entire night for to ourselves. We cooked, enjoyed our dinner and watched a movie.

Saturday we met up with Sade at waterloo train station and went straight to Regents Park. The weather was lovely - the sun was out, blue sky, and the temperature was actually above 10C! :D 

We sat in the park for a couple hours and enjoyed the food we brought with us. From there on, we headed to Primrose Hill which was really overcrowded but we still found our spot to sit and enjoy the view. It was an amazing feeling to see everyone out and about and the city full of life! 

From there on, Julia and I made our way to the O2 arena and enjoyed our evening there, as I've already talked about in my last post. 

Sunday, unfortunately, the weather turned into full on English mode again. It was windy, cold, and looked like it was about to start raining all day long. 

Sade, Fanny, Julia, Lisa and I met up in Kingston again, since I had to catch my bus to Heathrow there. We went to a Pub we used to go to almost every Friday night and had lunch there. Since the wether didn't get any better, we spent our entire afternoon there. We had loads of fun and I really started missing our "old times"! 

I was really sad to leave these girls behind once more but we already have plans to visit each other in Germany and Austria and we'll definitely stay in contact! 

Wie ich in meinem letzten Post schon erwähnt hatte, war ich natürlich nicht nur Samstag Abend in London, sondern bin Freitag Morgen gelandet und Sonntag Abend wieder nach Frankfurt zurück geflogen. Natürlich möchte ich euch nicht all die schönen Dinge vorenthalten, die wir den Rest des Wochenendes erlebt haben. Und darum wird es in diesem Blogpost gehen. 

Freitag morgen bin ich gegen acht Uhr in Heathrow gelandet. Von dort aus, fährt in Bus direkt nach Kingston, wo ich mit einigen meiner Freundinnen verabredet war. Bis ich dann aber das richtige Terminal gefunden hatte, an dem mein Bus abfährt und dann auch wirklich in Kingston ankam, war es bereits zehn Uhr. Sade hatte bereits im Pret-a-manger auf mich gewartet und nach und nach sind auch nicht die ganzen anderen Mädels eingelaufen, die entweder noch College hatten oder zu Hause noch etwas arbeiten mussten. Da das Wetter, wie auf den Bildern zu erkennen, super schön war, haben wir uns dann noch in einen Pub an das Flussufer der Themse gesetzt und noch etwas getrunken. 

Von dort aus ging es für Julia und mich am Nachmittag dann noch zu meiner ehemaligen Gastfamilie weiter. Auch die Zeit bei ihnen war sehr entspannt und ich habe  mich gefreut auch sie mal wieder zu sehen. 

Freitag Abend musste Julia Babysitten, weswegen wir bei ihr zu Hause geblieben sind. Da die Kinder aber schon gegen acht tief und fest geschlafen haben, hatten wir Zeit und etwas leckeres zu kochen und uns dann noch in Ruhe einen Film anzuschauen. Ein gelungener Abend also! :D

Samstag haben Sade, Julia und ich uns dann an der Waterloo station getroffen und sind von dort aus in den Regents Park gefahren. Das Wetter war ein Traum und wir haben einfach nur die Sonne genossen und ein kleines Picknick gemacht. Der komplette Park war voll mit Fußball-, Frisbee, und Cricketmanschaften. Es war ein wundervolles Gefühl ganz London so lebendig zu sehen. 

Da Primrose Hill an einem Ende des Regentspark liegt, wollten wir uns das natürlich nicht entgehen lassen und haben uns auch dort noch einmal eine Stunde hingesetzt und die Aussicht genossen. 

Von dort aus ging es dann für Julia und mich zu unserem Konzert, aber darüber habt ihr ja schon alles in meinem letzten Post gelesen. :D

Sonntag war das Wetter leider nicht mehr so gut wie die Tage davor. Es war kalt, die Sonne wurde von grauen Wolken überdeckt und dazu sah es den ganzen Tag aus, als würde es jede Sekunde anfangen zu regnen. Da ich aber immer noch einige Mädels nicht gesehen hatte, sind wir gegen Mittag wieder nach Kingston gefahren, um dort Sade, Fanny und Lisa zu treffen. Wir haben uns in unseren Standardpub, Wetherspoons, gesetzt und dort zu Mittag gegessen. Dort haben wir dann auch bis um vier gesessen, bis ich mich auf den Weg zu meinem Bus Richtung Heathrow machen musste. 

Ich habe jeden Tag in London genossen und kann es nicht erwarten, die Mädels hoffentlich bald wieder zu sehen. Ich habe zwar im Moment keine Trips nach London geplant, dafür wollen wir uns aber spätestens im Sommer alle irgendwo in Deutschland oder Österreich treffen.
